Boksburg North SAPS arrests woman for perjury

“The police again appeal to the community to refrain from opening false cases that would put them in trouble with the law. Such cases are regarded as wasteful expenditure of state resources.

A 34-year-old woman has been arrested for perjury after allegedly lying about her stolen vehicle.

According to Boksburg North communications officer Justice Ramaube, the woman went to the Boksburg North SAPS around 4.45am on May 9 to open a case of theft of motor vehicle.

“She alleged that her vehicle was stolen at a gambling place in Trichardts Road.

“However, during preliminary investigations when police followed a lead on how her vehicle was stolen, it was discovered from a witness that he allegedly overheard the woman talking to a Congolese man about pawning her vehicle in Boksburg.”

It was discovered that the woman borrowed R3 280 from the Congolese man and she gave him her vehicle as a collateral reassurance.

The police then approached the complainant on May 9 and she was arrested and detained at the Boksburg North SAPS.

Ramaube said the Congolese man alleged to be in possession of the vehicle and he also revealed to the police how the woman approached him for money to gamble and she used her vehicle as collateral assurance to pay back the money.
