Crime brief: Criminals ransack house in Parkrand

Below are some of the serious crimes recently reported to the Boksburg police:

Robbed

* In Parkrand, robbers overpowered a domestic worker and ransacked her boss’s house located on Le Roux Street on May 10. The worker told police she was busy cleaning when three men in a white van arrived, locked her in the bathroom and stole electrical appliances.

* In Parkdene, robbers recently held security guards at gunpoint and stole truck batteries from trucks parked at the construction site on Rondebult Road.

The guards told police two men carrying guns entered the yard and tied them up with shoelaces before stealing the batteries from the trucks. The guards’ cellphones were also stolen in the robbery.

* A driver had his cellphone stolen while waiting for the traffic light to turn green at the smash-and-grab hot spot, corner of Rondebult and Pretoria roads on May 10.

The victim, a man, told police the robber, he described as a black man, approached his car, smashed the window and grabbed his cellphone before fleeing the scene. Police urge motorists to always remain fully alert when driving along the area in question because smash-and-grab criminals are becoming more brazen.

Burgled

A Sunward Park resident woke up on May 13 to find that thieves forced their way into his house while he was asleep and stole a TV set. Thieves forced open the dining room door to enter the house located on Uitkyk Street.
