Two killed, 16 injured in early morning accident on Snake Rd

Two people were killed and 16 others injured in a collision between a taxi, small truck and car on Snake Road under the N12 in Benoni on Monday morning.

According to Ineke van Huyssteen of ER24, paramedics came across the scene shortly before 7.30am where they found a taxi lying on its side and several patients lying outside the taxi.

Unfortunately, two of the patients sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics. Sixteen others were found to have sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. One of the injured was entrapped in the taxi and had to be extricated.

ER24, as well as various other medical services on the scene, transported the patients to various hospitals for further medical care.
