#IMadeMyMark: Citizens urged to exercise their right to vote in May elections

As the general election approaches, local ward councillors are encouraging citizens to come out in high numbers to have their say heard.

On May 8, South Africans will again have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote for those who must represent them both in national and provincial government.

Ward 43 Councillor Bruce Reid said: “I remind people to use this opportunity which comes once every five years for citizens to have a say.

“By participating in the electoral process as voters you get a say for the next five years in how things are done. Even those who are still unsure about who to vote for, there is still time to find out about what the different candidates have to offer, and then vote in an informed and responsible manner for the national and provincial leaders.”

Ward 17 Councillor Simon Lapping encourages South Africans to descend on their respective voting stations on May 8 to cast their ballots to have their say heard both nationally and provincially.

“South Africans should remember that it is up to them to choose the right people to take our country forward.”
