Man found in possession of drugs valued at R4 000

A foreign national was arrested in Boksburg on on Sunday, April 7 when he was found in possession of khat and dagga valued at R4 100 on the streets.

This is according to chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson.

“The arrest was effected at 6.30 in the morning. The same man was on Tuesday, April 2 released from prison after being arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court.”

He said the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit acted on a tip-off which led to the arrest in Commissioner Street.

“The suspect was found in possession of 20 ziplocks of khat and one of dagga. Cash amounting to R400 was also confiscated as suspected proceeds from the suspect’s illicit dealings.

“The Nigerian national was charged with possession and dealing in narcotics at Boksburg Central police station.”
