The Nigerian national, who was found in possession of two pieces of rhino horns with an estimated street value of about R1.7-million on the R21 in Boksburg, has made his first court appearance.
The 34-year-old man appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court, where the matter was postponed to April 10 for a forensic investigation into the origin of the rhino horns.
He was remanded in custody to allow for the state to verify the authenticity of his documents to be in the country, and if it will be in the interest of justice to grant him bail during his formal bail application.
