Kgatla family meets with health department

A case hasn’t been opened with the police.

Modibe Kgatla, uncle to the young woman whose baby was delivered in three separate body parts, said officials from the Department of Health visited them on April 2.

Kagiso Kgatla, from Ramaphosa informal settlement, claimed that during labour, her baby boy’s head came out first, detached.

It is alleged his niece was made to wait 24 hours before the rest of her baby’s body was removed from her womb.

The Kgatla family has accused the hospital of negligence, saying if the doctors had performed a C-section the child would still be alive.

The uncle said they met with the officials at the Ramaphosa Clinic and were told that they were dispatched by the Minister of Health, Aaron Motsoaledi, to find out what happened as part of the investigations.
