The Ekurhuleni metro will hold public Integrated Development Planning (IDP) and budget consultative meetings across Ekurhuleni from April 2 to 11 with residents and other stakeholders.

Proposed new tariffs, credit control measures and budget proposals on capital projects are expected to dominate discussions at the City’s IDP meetings.

Residents will have an opportunity to comment on the developmental programme of the metro as contained in the IDP for the next five years and the budget for the next three years.

The consultative meetings will be held in the 20 customer care areas, starting at 6pm on scheduled days to discuss the draft IDP and budget with communities.

In Boksburg, the consultative meeting will be held on April 11 at the Reiger Park Community Hall for residents from Ward 22, 23, 32, 33, 34 and 43.

In Vosloorus it will be held on April 9 at the Vosloorus Civic Hall for Ward 44,45, 46, 47, 64, 95 and 107.

Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe said: “Integrated development planning is a process through which municipalities prepare a strategic development plan which extends over a five-year period.

“This then guides and informs all planning, budgeting, management and decision-making processes in the municipality.”

The draft IDP and draft budget documents can be viewed electronically at www.ekurhuleni.gov.za, or at public libraries, pay points and customer care centres during office hours.

Comments can be filled in and dropped into Budget Tips boxes at the mentioned offices or emailed to budgettips@ekurhuleni.gov.za
