Watch: Family speaks out on the horror birth at Tambo Memorial Hospital

Read the full story in tomorrow's issue of the Advertiser dated April 5.

“We want answers about what happened to my niece’s child,” said Modibe Kgatla.

Modibe is uncle to a young woman, Kagiso Kgatla (19), who delivered her baby about three weeks ago at Tambo Memorial Hospital.

Modibe, from Ramaphosa informal settlement, claimed that during labour, the baby boy’s head came out first, detached.

It is alleged his niece was made to wait for 24 hours before the rest of her baby’s body was removed from her womb

The Advertiser visited her family on March 27, but the mother was too traumatised to talk.

Kgatla said what happened to his niece was bizarre and they are still shocked.

“Nothing like this has ever happened to someone in our family. We are all still confused about what transpired on that fateful day.”
