Speedsters nabbed over the weekend in Boksburg

Speeding drivers claimed they were in a hurry to get home.

 

The EMPD High Speed Unit arrested six motorists on Saturday and Sunday in two separate operations conducted in Boksburg and Germiston.

The one operation was conducted between 6am and 11am on Saturday on North Reef Road in Germiston as well as on Saturday night from 10pm and well into the early hours of Sunday morning on Atlas Road between Mercury and Elizabeth Roads in Boksburg (which is a 70km/h zone).

According to chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, two male drivers aged 33 and 35 in sedans were caught doing 130 and 106km/h respectively during the operation held in Boksburg.

“The speedsters were charged at Boksburg police station with reckless and negligent driving.”

They are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Four speedsters were caught doing speeds of between 101 and 92 on the 60km/h zone during the Germsiton operation.
