Boksburg North SAPS confiscate R6-million worth of counterfeit goods

Furthermore, during Operation Buya Mthetho, 10 illegal immigrants, one suspect for possession of dagga, three suspects (possession of drugs), eight suspects (contravention of the Liquor Act) were arrested.

About R6-million worth of counterfeit DVDs and CDs have been recovered by the Boksburg North SAPS during Operation Buya Mthetho on February 28.

The Boksburg North SAPS were working hand in hand with the Etwatwa SAPS, EMPD, intelligence unit, home affairs, counterfeit goods unit, and other law enforcement units.

Col Kumbulani Mbatha (station commander) said they recovered seven bags of fake CDs and DVDs, which are pirated.

“We arrested a 22-year-old suspect, who took us to his shop where we found more counterfeit DVDs and CDs.”

Mbatha said they thank the support they received from Brig Elizabeth Mphuthi’s cluster office and other law enforcement agencies that assisted them in the successful operation.

They have opened a case of contravention of the Film and Publications Act.
