Go to the movies with Hospice

The award-winning movie Green Book will be screened.

Hospice East Rand will host a movie night at Nu Metro Emperors Palace on February 22.

The evening starts at 7.30pm for 8pm and tickets cost R200 a person, including a medium popcorn and soda.

The movie recalls a time in the 1960s when acclaimed black pianist Dr Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) recruited a big-mouthed Bronx bouncer named Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) to drive him to his tour destinations in America’s Deep South.

Obviously, as a black man, Dr Shirley expects trouble.

Fact is, the reason he wants to bring his dignified act to former plantations and its racist white patrons is to change their hearts.

Needing the money, Tony takes the gig, despite having his own prejudices to overcome.

They must rely on ‘The Green Book’ to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for AfricanAmericans.
