Emperors donates to local charities

The three organisations are among 20 charities selected by 20 Emperors Palace employees to each receive R10 000 as part of the resort’s 20th birthday celebrations.

Emperors Palace helped to spread a lot of love this February by donating R1.4-million to a host of worthy causes.

This is thanks to proceeds raised from the recent Garden of Lights.

Among the charitable organisations to benefit from the casino’s generosity is the Dirk San Children’s Home and Urban Ruins, both in Boksburg, along with the Matthew Ukhozi Foundation, based in Reiger Park.

The Matthew Ukhozi Foundation is a non-profit organisation that was formed to be the change and transformation in an already overpopulated child care system.

The Foundation seeks to eradicate failed parenting, juvenile delinquency and poverty in the life of the less fortunate.

Urban Ruins, an NPO, offers numerous activities to empower the youth, such as an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre for underprivileged children, a free aftercare centre, Urban Ruins Active Cycling Development Club, art workshops, reading and literacy programmes, and a book club.

Apart from the R200 000 donated to the 20 charities, a further R350 000 each was donated to the Peermont Education and Children’s Trusts, while another R400 000 will be donated to the Reach for a Dream Foundation.
