Kick, punch and jump: Public aerobics marathon to be held in Germiston

The “Fit For Free” aerobics programme is the City’s flagship wellness programme for members of the community, and it is held annually.

Fitness fanatics in Ekurhuleni will flex and stretch their muscles to achieve physical fitness and wellness at the annual session of the City’s “Fit For Free” aerobics session on Saturday, February 9 at Germiston Lake.

It is dubbed “Fit For Free” because it gives the residents an opportunity to achieve physical fitness at no cost.

According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, to complement this programme, the City host three-hour aerobics sessions free-of-charges at various open spaces and stadiums across the City on a Saturday morning.

“The success of this programme is due to the solid partnership the city enjoys with community-based aerobics clubs, with over 30 clubs involved in the programme.

“On the day, the programme is scheduled to start at 9am and end at 12pm.”

He said 18 buses have been arranged to transport all interested participants to and from the venue.

“The programme is opened to participants of all age groups. Participants are encouraged to bring their own food as only fruits will be served on the day.

In Boksburg, buses will be departing from the park at Barry Marais Road, Dawn Park, and Reiger Park Stadium (WJ Clements) at 7am and will depart back from Germiston Lake at 2pm.
