Contact the call centre before you call your ward councillor

If the issue is not resolved within a reasonable time, you may then contact the ward councillor, who will then escalate your complaint to senior management.

The Advertiser recently published contact details of all the Boksburg ward councillors and encouraged readers to contact their respective councillors whenever they encounter problems related to service delivery.

Residents are, however, advised to first report their service delivery issues to the municipality’s call centre on 0860 543 000 to get a reference number for the complaint lodged.

The Advertiser, however, recently received many complaints from people who claimed they had tried unsuccessfully to reach anyone at the call centre.

Such complaints were also reported to our sister publication, the Alberton RECORD.

Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe told the RECORD that the call centre sometimes experiences high call volumes and it takes more time to get to all the calls.

He reportedly said that if residents feel they were ignored when they called, they should report their frustrations via email.

Themba reminded residents that there are other ways of contacting the call centre, including email at CallCentreSupervisors@ekurhuleni.gov.za, SMS (shortcode to 30788, start the message with the prefix EMM followed by the actual query) or the Twitter handle @EMM Call Centre.
