It was a bittersweet moment for children who started Grade One on January 9 at various primary schools across the country.

The Advertiser visited Dawn Park and Windmill Park primary schools to capture photos of these little bundles of joy.

With only six classes for the Grade Ones, Dawn Park Primary welcomed 269 learners to the school.

With no learner spotted crying, learners showed excitement and nervousness on their first day of school.

At Windmill Park Primary some of the learners couldn’t hold back their tears as they cried for their parents when they left them in their classes.

Welcoming the learners, teachers at the school made the learners’ first-time experience fun and comfortable, assuring those crying learners their parents will fetch them.

Windmill Park Primary, which had seven classes for the Grade Ones, welcomed 315 new learners to the school.
