Kuselo needs your support this Christmas

Kuselo does not only look after children in the safe house but regularly distributes donations of food and clothing throughout the Boksburg community to those in need.

The safe house in Boksburg named Heaven Sent, run by Kuselo, is still going strong.

Babies and young children are temporarily homed in a stable environment.

Kuselo cares for abused and neglected children, who are removed from their homes through statutory processes such as the welfare/SAPS while the investigation is pending for a period of 90 days.

Thereafter the child is then placed into a foster care system or with respective families if qualified and screened through the welfare and approved by the courts.

Kuselo works hand in hand and assists the SAPS Boksburg North, welfare organisations, SA Search and Rescue as well as Touch of Hope (an organisation that deals with missing persons, especially children and human trafficking) and other relevant organisations to provide aid and support to benefit children in crisis.

There are currently two teens placed at the house. The teens will start school in January next year, and they are doing well in the safe and loving environment.

“The community is welcome to make an appointment and visit the foster care unit. We will also continue with community outreach and support to those in crisis,” said Amanda Coetzee of Kuselo.

She said Kuselo is in need of food for the safe house as they may have up to 18 children placed over the holiday season.

“We need donations to carry us through December until companies reopen in the new year. We have a big enough freezer to accommodate food donations.”

Any donations of Christmas gifts, food, schools stationary, school bags and school clothing are welcome.

“Any donations towards electricity or rent will be highly appreciated, and we will be more than willing to give details so that no cash is handled but money is paid directly toward rent,” said Coetzee.

Coetzee expressed her greatest appreciation for all the sponsors and donations throughout the year.

“We are so grateful to everyone who supported Kuselo during the year, we really want to say thank you.”

Coetzee may be contacted on 072 512 7227.
