Donated Ford Ranger to boost Santa Shoebox Project’s services

The shoeboxes are distributed to more than 1 000 recipient facilities each year, through more than 60 satellites around South Africa and Namibia.

Ford SA handed over the keys of a brand new Ford Ranger to Margie Kostelac from the Santa Shoebox Project.

The donation took place at Consolidated Auto Ford in Boksburg.

The project originated in Cape Town in 2006 with the aim of collecting gifts for underprivileged children across the country and Namibia. In 12 years it has grown in leaps and bounds, with the number of shoeboxes donated reaching a total of 762 594.

Gauteng regional manager, Margie Kostelac, said: “Santa Shoebox is overwhelmed with this phenomenal gesture from Ford SA for their support.

“We are excited to go further on this wonderful journey with Ford SA which will enable Santa Shoebox to continue the heartwarming work with the children.”

Recently the team from Santa Shoebox handed out shoeboxes to learners at Balmoral College which consisted of a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, an item of clothing, stationery, sweets and a toy.
