It’s beginning to look a lot like cocktails

Annie’s Festive Gin Fizz with Pomegranate and Rosemary (makes one cocktail)

It’s not just gin and tonic any more… Time for a Gin Fizz when you celebrate a December birthday and get together with friends and family for the festive season.

Syrup (syrup enough for four cocktails)

Boil the water and sugar until the sugar dissolves, remove from heat and add the rosemary and let it sit for about 15 minutes, refrigerate.

In your fancy festive glass, add the following:

Fill the glass up with soda water. Add a fresh rosemary sprig and more pomegranate rubies to add to the festive look.

The Cook & Culture team had so much fun testing this recipe. Watch the video online!

Food For Thought

16 Days of Activism is celebrated annually from November 25 to December 10. The Cook & Culture team feels very strongly about women’s and children’s rights. No one deserves to be a victim of emotional or physical abuse. If you are in such a position, do not suffer in silence. Speak up and look for help. You deserve better. Home Remedy

For holiday-healthy hair, massage coconut oil into your hair and leave it for 30 minutes under a shower cap or leave overnight for deep conditioning. For the blondes whose hair goes green after a dip in the pool, leave tomato sauce in your hair for 15 minutes.

Coconut oil will deep condition your hair and tomato sauce will make sure the blonds stay blond and don’t go green!

Local is Lekker

If you need a break in these last few weeks of the year, visit Sugarcube Café in El Ridge Corner. They have a fun-filled menu, savoury and sweet, and a play area for the little ones.

Digital

With online shopping trending, it is festive season for online thieves as well, so be sure to close all online banking tabs, especially at work. And take note of the ‘s’ in the https:// link. The ‘s’ indicates that the site is secure. If there is no ‘s’, don’t type in any banking details or passwords as your banking details can be used to steal the last little bit of money you have left at this time of the year.

Have You Heard It?

It’s December, so get your Michael Bublé on. Nothing says ‘Christmas’ quite like hearing some jolly jingles by Bublé.
