Metro aware of poor state of park in Dawn Park

Israel Tlale, who has been a resident of Dawn Park for 10 years, has voiced his concern about the lack of maintenance of the park.

The Ekurhuleni metro has confirmed they are aware the park behind the Falcon College in Dawn Park has not been maintained for two years.

Tlale said since 2016 he has been fighting an unending war of trying to get the park maintained, but nothing has been done to improve the situation.

Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe said a contractor was attending to repairs and the painting of the play equipment.

“The metro normally does not fence parks due to vandalism, theft and high maintenance costs, but we do the installation of concrete bollards as a form of fencing.

“The community must inform their ward councillor of such request for consideration to be placed on the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) budget,” Gadebe said.

Gadebe said the grass cutting of the park was done “according to a certain programme”, and the maintenance of play equipment and litter picking was done as and when required.
