Three arrested for cultivating dagga at Eveleigh Estate

About 240 six-in-one containers with over 1 459 dagga plants were found placed on the balcony and within the flat.

A tip off from concerned residents of Eveleigh Estate situated in Edgar Road in Boksburg led to the arrest of three men.

According to the EMPD’s chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, it is alleged the men hijacked the flat and cultivated dagga on the balcony floor, railings and within the residence.

“The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit raided the flat on Saturday, December 1 around 3pm whereupon numerous plants in six-in-one containers and a handful of pot-plants were uncovered,” said Kgasago.

“Allegations of the trio being illegal occupiers of the flat are underway to get to the bottom of the matter.”

The arrested trio, aged 20,21 and 24, were detained at Boksburg North police station on a charge of cultivating dagga.

They are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
