Case against police officers struck off the roll

The police officers, a captain and constable, were not stationed in Boksburg.

Two police officers and other seven suspects charged with truck hijacking, possession of hijacked truck, defeating the ends of justice and driving the car without the owner’s consent, had their case struck off the roll in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.

The men were arrested in the early hours of November 12. They were found escorting an alleged hijacked truck.

Police on routine patrol noticed a truck being escorted by three vehicles, including a marked police car, on the N12 highway in Benoni.

Police kept a close observation on the vehicles and later intercepted the suspects in Boksburg.

Spokesperson for the Gauteng police Capt Mavela Masondo said the case was struck off the roll by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for further investigation.
