Two arrested in Dawn Park for illegally reconnecting electricity

The arrested pair in their mid-thirties were detained at Dawn Park police station and are expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The EMPD Anti- Cable Theft Unit members in conjunction with the metro’s energy department personnel arrested two suspects at a residential house in Dawn Park on Friday, November 9.

According to chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, they were illegally reconnecting power that had been recently disconnected by the department.

“The EMPD Anti-Cable Theft Unit members responded swiftly after receiving information about the illegal activity in Dawn Park where the two suspects were caught red-handed at an electricity distribution box,” said Kgasago.
