Plantation family survives home invasion of five robbers

The robbers helped themselves to valuable items including two Apple iPads, a cellphone, money and other goods worth about R95 500.

A Plantation man and his family woke up to find robbers in the family’s house on Chelsea Lane.

The man told the police that he, his mother and children were asleep in the property when the gang of five thugs, all carrying firearms, entered the house at around 3am on November 1.

They demanded money and jewellery.

The thugs also went to the other bedrooms and ushered the children and their grandmother into the man’s bedroom, where the victims had their legs and arms tied together.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

It is believed that the intruders had broken into the house through the door at the back.

The door was found wide open.
