Kuselo honours local heroes for their unwavering support

Kuselo, based in Boksburg North, cares for abused and neglected children who are removed from their homes for a period of 90 days through statutory processes such as the welfare/SAPS while the investigation is pending.

Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services and Touch of Hope hosted a My Hero Day at Reach Church in Boksburg North.

This joined venture is to recognise and honour those persons who work hand in hand with these organisations in bringing about change and making a difference in the lives of children and families in crisis.

This NPO receives donations and support from all over the community and works closely with the Boksburg North SAPS, Boksburg Clinic and other NPOs like Touch of Hope.

According to Amanda Coetzee, founder of Kuselo, there are so many heroes in the community who work behind the scenes.

“It is vital to say thank you to those who help Kuselo and Touch of Hope. Without them we will not be able to do what needs to be done,” said Coetzee.

“My personal hero is my sister Rika Kramm,” said Coetzee.

“When I was diagnosed with cancer at an early age and the prospects were not looking good, my sister was my greatest supporter. She was always there through good and bad times.

“When I planned to move to Johannesburg to establish a Kuselo organisation in Gauteng, she stood by me. Her support and love carry me through every day.

“Rika assists in every aspect of Kuselo, so it is very important for her to also receive a special award of recognition.”

Local heroes were awarded a certificate of gratitude.

“We thank them for the work they do in the community and for children in crisis. This is our way of giving gratitude to all those who show sacrifice and commitment to inspire and aspire children in crisis.”

Certificates were awarded to Ekurhuleni Central Tactical Team, Ekurhuleni Environmental Health, CPF Boksburg, Boksburg Advertiser, EMS Chaplaincy and Trauma Support, Boksburg North SAPS, Nerine Pre Primary, AFM Welfare (Umephi Division), Woolworths Sunward Park, Search and Rescue, Reach Church, Boksburg North Clinic, Tambo Babies, Child Welfare Kempton Park and Springs and SA Scouts.
