Family survives hijacking ordeal in Boksburg central

The stolen bakkie is fitted with a tracking device and is insured.

A Boksburg South family fell victim to hijackers in their driveway on Snyman Road on September 27.

The complainant, a father, told the police he was with his wife and son when they were ambushed by a gang of thugs as they were exiting their home driving in his company’s Opel Corsa bakkie.

The father had just alighted from the bakkie to close the gate when a white VW Golf arrived and blocked their vehicle from behind.

Three balaclava-clad gunmen jumped out of the Golf and threatened the family with firearms.

The hijackers instructed the family to get out of the bakkie and they complied. The suspects drove away in both vehicles – leaving the family in the driveway unhurt.
