In the season premiere of Win A Home, we met the amazing Design Duos and took a tour of the design competition location; the incredible Paardevlei Lifestyle Estate in Somerset West, developed by Balwin Properties.
This week our Design Duos are given their very first challenge, and it’s a double one: to decorate not only the guest bedroom, but also the spare room! They will be challenged to keep to budgets and make sure that they meet the briefs given to them by their clients: VISI, REAL Life Magazine and SA Home Owner.
Sumien Brink, editor in chief for VISI magazine, chose Team R&K, made up of Rekopile Belebesi and Koketso Marole, as their apartment designers.
Rekopile and Koketso met at the Design Joburg Expo in 2018, only 3 months prior to being selected as a Design Duo for this year’s Win a Home. They sparked an instant connection through a common passion born from their love of design.
Will Team R&K be able to capture VISI’s ethos of celebrating the best of South African design, decor and architecture? Only time will tell…
Debbie Loots, editor at REAL | Life magazine chose Team Perma Peeps’ which comprises of Melissa Oosthuizen and Sinead Turner. They met seven years ago when they studied together at Greenside Design Centre. The duo bonded instantly through their shared tastes in design and life goals.
Debbie has a wealth of experience within the media industry so Team Perma Peeps are going to have their work cut out for them.
Kelebogile Nondzaba, editor at SA Home Owner magazine, chose Team Contrast Control which comprises of Kehumile Mate and Nicholas Smit. The duo met at Design College and have always been eager to join creative forces.
Kelebogile who has over 8 years of experience and is expecting to be seriously impressed by Kehumile and Nicholas’ attention to details and innovative use of materials.
With the winning design duo due to receive R100 000 cash prize as the Judges Choice winners, the stakes are high for our emerging designers!
Each week viewers will also be able to have their say, and vote online for their favourite Design Duo. By voting they will be put in the draw for both the live weekly competitions as well as the Win a Home Grand Prize of a fully decorated penthouse apartment at Paardevlei Lifestyle Estate by Balwin Properties, valued at over R3 Million.
The weekly prizes range from Samsung connected devices to, cash prizes courtesy of Capitec, shopping vouchers from Weylandts, Duram Paint, luxury Tempur beds from Vencasa and premium products from Caesarstone.
