A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with murder and armed robbery.
On August 25 at about 7.40pm, the Dawn Park SAPS received a complaint of shooting at Loliwe informal settlement, Villa Lisa.
According to Constable Nkemeleng Mabula, from Dawn Park SAPS, when the police arrived community members alleged that an unknown man shot a 30-year-old man in his shop.
“The community gave chase and caught the suspect and handed him to the police. The suspect then offered to take the police to the alleged shooter, saying that he wasn’t the one who shot the 30-year-old.”
“The police went with the suspect to a local tavern. While there, another man told the police that the suspect allegedly stole his cellphone at gunpoint on the day.”
The suspect was detained and as a result of the investigation, a cellphone and a firearm were recovered.
The suspect will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
