Hundreds of angry residents of Ramaphosa blocked off the stretch of Elsburg Road between Commissioner Street and Heidelberg Road in protest against poor service delivery this morning.
The protest reportedly flared up just after midnight and saw protesters burning tyres, throwing stones at vehicles and causing massive traffic congestion.

Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Jan Mokwana, told the Advertiser that police are on the scene trying to bring the situation under control.
No arrests have been made so far and no injuries reported.

The protesters told this publication that their patience ran out waiting for government to deliver on its promises.

They decided to take to the streets and demand the land, houses and other services that they were promised.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to use alternative routes.
Simon Bekker Road on the border of Boksburg and Germiston is a possible alternative to avoid the protest action on Elsburg Road.
