Mother’s desperate cry for her missing son to return home

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Boksburg North SAPS on 011 898 3000/09/10.

Theunis de Bruin (23) from Boksburg North has been missing for two months.

His concerned mother, Alet Smit, said that someone apparently saw him two weeks ago at a feeding scheme in Boksburg.

“Every time I think I have an answer, I hit a dead end,” said Smit.

Security technician Theunis de Bruin left work on June 2 at about 1pm and has been missing since. Smit has opened a missing person’s case at the Boksburg North SAPS.

“I speak to the detectives at the station regularly. They are doing what they can but they haven’t found him.”

According to Smit, de Bruin moved to a home in Boksburg North to be closer to his work. As he has no car, he would walk the short distance between the two.

She said her son’s home is left without change and everything in place. His worried mother is desperate to know that her son is still alive.

Through the tears, she expressed her deepest concerns and that she has run out of options. “I don’t know what to do anymore. We have been searching everywhere.”

In a heartfelt letter posted on Facebook, Smit wrote: “I keep thinking about that smile you had when you visited me on Thursday. You were so happy. There was no sign that you would disappear or that our lives would change like this.”
