Two EMPD Inspectors from the EMPD’s Training Academy were on their way home when they stopped a grey Opel Astra with five male occupants on Friday, July 27 around 4pm at the intersection of Trichardt and R554 roads.
According to Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, while searching the occupants of the Astra, two Gauteng Traffic Police officers on patrol in the area stopped to assist.
“Two firearms, 44 live rounds and an okapi knife were recovered in the Opel Astra. All five occupants were arrested.”
“All five suspects whose ages range between 26 and 44, were locked up at Dawn Park police station on possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition.”
They are expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
