Robbers use blue lights to impersonate police, target trucks

Truck driver was fooled into believing he was stopped by law enforcement for a valid reason

A truck driver told the police that he was at about 4pm on July 6 robbed of his cellphone by two men impersonating police officers while driving along Rondebult Road, near the East Rand Mounted Unit offices.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko. the robbers, driving in an Amarok fitted with a police blue light, signalled for the truck driver to pull over.

Once his truck was stationary on the side of the road, the two thugs approached, presented themselves as police officers and asked to see the driver’s licence.

All of a sudden, they took out a firearm, aimed it at the driver and demanded his Huawei P9 Plus.

Police are investigating. Anyone who may have information about the above case to call the Boksbug crime office on 011 841 6843 or 10111
