The Advertiser was on scene and the CIT vehicle and a taxi minibus were stationed on Atlas Road.
The traffic light on the corner of Middel and Atlas roads was cordoned off as well as the entrance to Atlas Bridge and North Rand Road crossing.

Employer of victim speaks out
Carol Smith, the employer of victim who was shot during the attempted CIT heist, said the woman has been working for her for the past 13 years.
Smith stays in Bartlett and her domestic worker is punctual under normal circumstances when reporting for work.
Smith said her domestic worker is always at work at about 5.45am and when she did not pitch on time, she got worried.
“I said to my husband something is wrong, she usually phones when she is late.”
Smith said her employee travels to work via Atlas Road every morning in a minibus taxi.
“We heard the gunshots and explosions and were very worried. “
Smith received a phone call from ER24 stating that her domestic worker was shot and has been taken to Tambo Memorial Hospital.
“She is part of our family and has been with us through our toughest times, we really hope she will be alright,” said Smith.
Multiple gunshots and three explosions were heard by residents (see video below).
At this rate, criminals will hijack petrol tankers & sell to taxi associations & distressed motorists. If you thought #CITHeist was too much, you have another thing coming.#FuelPriceHike
