Watch: Vivarte Arts Festival unearths artistic talent

Nearly 2 000 entries were received, from participants from Boksburg, Benoni, Brakpan, Springs, Heidelberg and Pretoria.

Vivarte Arts Festival’s prestige event was held on May 24 at Hoërskool EG Jansen and it was a night to remember.

This event is a prize-giving occasion where the top participants receive awards for winning specific items and sections at the festival.

Participants from pre-school to Grade 12 showcased their talents in the arts from May 2 to 16 and those with the highest scores were honoured at this special occasion.

“We are extremely excited about the growth in the festival and the growth of the children and their talent year after year,” said Karen Zevengergen, head adjudicator and organiser.

The evening was filled with stunning performances from several sections of the festival, from public speaking, singing, dance items and drama performances.

Participants from as young as five years old to 18 years old took part and received awards.

This was a glamorous occasion where the participants received special recognition for their hard work and talent in front of their family and other participants.

Several schools from Boksburg were represented and there is no doubt that there are many up and coming artist in our midst.

Certificates were handed out, Vivarte badges were pinned and every participant received a warm round of applause.

“Many learners in the Boksburg community work unbelievably hard to enrich their talents and grow as performing and visual artists. Unfortunately, it can be easily overlooked,” said Zevengergen.

“The festival puts these talented participants in the spotlight and help them to achieve their dreams and provide them with the deserved recognition and encourages people to support our future writers, dancers, actors, musicians, orators and artists.

“It is a wonderful platform for the youngsters of Boksburg to showcase their unbelievable potential.”
