Things might be looking bleak for the Boksburg Football Club’s senior side, but all is not lost.

The u-17s showed there is a glimmer of hope for the future for the club after putting on a scoring show in their Eastern Super League showdown on May 27 at home against Milano Football Club from Katlehong.

The junior Blues had to make a step-up before the beginning of the campaign to prepare to participate on an u-17 level with the league not accommodating an u-16 category.

According to their run this season thus far, self-application to this level is going well – as their recent assignment proves.

Ernest Seforo’s men were just one goal away from hitting their visitors with a double-digit scoreline as they humiliated Milano with a 9-5 score.

And it wasn’t even impressive, in fact, it was their worst performance according to coach Ernest Seforo.

“My boys weren’t fit, we’ve hardly trained because most of our players are busy with exams and we didn’t have enough players.

“The performance wasn’t good, it was the worst game we played this season,” bemoaned the mentor, before implying that the result did not reflect proceedings.

“Milano is a very good team, they play good football, I don’t know how they didn’t score more.”

Boksburg’s attacking quartet of Lwazi Dlamini, Shane Radebe (who netted a brace), and Tristan Bruwer gave the home team a 4-1 half-time lead.

With room for risk bigger courtesy of the leading margin, Seforo produced a stroke of genius in the second-half with the introduction of forwards Rudean Peters and Mpethe Moletsane – who netted five times between them.

“I decided to start with pacey players to tire them before introducing my two strikers and they turned out to be super subs.”

Peters scored a hat-trick and Moletsane became his side’s second player to net a deuce on the day. – @SabeloBoksburg
