Reiger Park SAPS continue fight against substance abuse

Almost a thousand of crime-awareness leaflets were distributed to residents during the event.

As part of the police’s ongoing war against substance abuse in the townships, the Reiger Park SAPS, in partnership with the Christian Bikers Club and Ekurhuleni Health and Social Development, held an anti-substance and alcohol abuse campaign in Ramaphosa.

The campaigners visited different busy spots in the area and interacted with community members.

Domestic violence is said to be among the social ills prevalent in the township, and it was therefore during the campaign among the issues that were discussed.

The team, along with community members, later gathered at the Ramaphosa taxi rank where the hungry were fed at a soup kitchen specially organised for the event.

Last month, the same team also held a crime-awareness campaign in Reiger Park, where community members received the low-down on crime, told what to do when they see suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods and were also offered some useful crime prevention advice.
