Driver survives train collision in Boksburg

The road had to be closed for the duration of the incident until all on scene investigations were conducted by the relevant authorities.

A lucky escape for this driver whose vehicle collided with a train.

A driver of a light motor vehicle sustained serious injuries after his vehicle collided with a goods train in Mapleton, Boksburg on Monday, May 14 in the afternoon.

This is according to William Ntladi, District Manager Media Liaison of the Emergency Services.

“The incident took place on Northern Road at the railway level crossing just outside Vosloorus,” said Ntladi.

“Disaster and Emergency Management Services rescue team from Vosloorus fire station, swiftly responded to the scene and had to rescue the only driver from the wreckage.

“The driver was then transported by private ambulance to Clinix Private Hospital still in Vosloorus for further medical care.”
