Paramedics rescue Boksburg man from drain pipe

The patient sustained a fracture to his lower limb and required Advanced Life Support intervention.

Netcare 911 responded to reports of a man trapped in a drain pipe on East End Road in Mapleton just after 9am on Saturday morning, May 12. 

According to  Shawn Herbst, media liaison officer of Netcare Limited, upon arrival it was established that an adult man (61) had fallen into a storm water drain pipe while working.

“Together with the Fire and Rescue Services the patient was extracted from the drain,” said Herbst.

He was transported to hospital for further treatment.
