Burglars break into pizza franchise on Leeuwpoort Street

No arrests have been made in connection with either of the robberies and the Boksburg police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Burglars broke into the Debonairs pizza franchise on Leeuwpoort Street, next to the CBD taxi rank, and stole a substantial amount of cash during the night of April 25.

Workers returned on April 26 to find that thieves had broken through the ceiling, cut open the safe and helped themselves to thousands of rand.

The criminals also stole a laptop and an amplifier.

Robbery in October

This was not the first time that criminals had targeted this same restaurant.

Last year it was robbed by a gang of about seven armed suspects who were driving in what was described as a Toyota Quantum.

In that incident an employee of the business told the police that the suspects stormed into the shop just before 9pm.

Three of them reportedly confronted one of the staff members and aimed firearms at the worker while demanding money. They apparently ordered the staff member to open the safe.

They took an undisclosed amount of money before running out of the store and climbing into their getaway vehicle.
