A moment of panic as bomb hoax rocks Boksburg police station

Bomb squad experts arrived on the scene and once the property was evacuated and cordoned off, they started searching for the threat.

Police officers, police support staff and others inside the Boksburg Police Station ran helter-skelter following a bomb threat at the police station on April 19.

During the incident, terrified police officers and support staff reportedly left everything they were busy with and ran for the exits.

Others are said to have even abandoned their personal belongings and vehicles and ran screaming for their lives.

Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko confirmed the incident, saying police received an alert from 10111 just after midday that Thursday reporting that an unknown person had claimed a bomb had been planted in one of the police vehicles parked in the yard.

The Boksburg Police Station was cordoned off and staff evacuated following a bomb threat on April 19. The threat proved to be a false alarm.

After combing the property and the parked vehicles, police confirmed no threat was found.

After the dramatic incident, staff returned to work.

One police officer said she was not at the station when the report came through but became really scared when she arrived at the station to the news of a possible bomb.

“I found my terrified colleagues standing outside.

“My car and others belonging to colleagues were still inside the yard and we were all scared to go in because the whole experience was terrifying and the sheer panic on people’s faces was awful,” the officer said.
