Community members also tried to stop the victim's funeral by blocking the road.

Two suspects were scheduled to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court today in connection with a mob justice attack which claimed the life of a 31-year-old man in Holomisa, Windmill Park on March 29.

The deceased was accused of stealing electrical cables in the area.

According to the Dawn Park SAPS spokesperson, Constable Nkemeleng Mabula, they received a complaint of mob justice at about 3.30am from D section.

“When officers arrived they found the man dead. During the investigation, two suspects, aged 38 and 40 respectively, were arrested in connection with the incident.”

Mabula added that on April 7, community members tried to stop the victim’s funeral by blocking the road.

“The protesters blocked streets and burnt tyres in the morning but the police managed to control the situation. Officers had to escort the family members to the cemetery.”
