Fresh boost for education at New Beginnings

The day care centre will now be called Liqui Moly Superheroes Academy.

Excitement and joy were written all over on the children’s faces during the opening of the newly-revamped New Beginning Day Care Centre in Boksburg on February 23.

Liqui Moly, in partnership with Jam South Africa, made Pastor Stephen du Plessis’s, founder of New Beginnings Care Centre, dreams become a reality in just three months, through revamping the centre to the tune of R1.3-million.

David Brown, from Jam South Africa, said: “When we first came to the New Beginnings, the material used to build the classroom was not in a good state, but the children were cared for.

“We then had the opportunity to be invited to start feeding the children and shortly after we sold the vision to Liqui Moly of making the day care centre a friendlier environment, which led to the revamp.”

The sight of the outdoor jungle gyms and scooters caused much excitement among the children who didn’t waste any time enjoying the new play equipment.

The upgrades include the redesigning of the classrooms, bathrooms, new furniture, a baby changing room and a vegetable garden.

Melicia Labuschagne, from Liqui Moly, said it was a long process but they are happy to have made a difference in the lives of the children.

“When we first came to the centre it was heartbreaking. We then started to plan on how to change the place for the children to benefit. After a year of planning, we are happy to have launched the new centre.”

A group of Christians from the Zion Fellowship in America came to assist by painting the walls and making sure that the area looks beautiful.

Du Plessis expressed his gratitude to Unlockd, Liqui Moly, Jam South Africa and the Zion Fellowship members who made his dream and the children’s come true.
