Try the depot at Boksburg SPCA for those wishing to recycle

No clarity regarding where to recycle following the closure of the recycling depot at Flora Farm.

The Advertiser continues to receive queries from the public about the closure of the recycling depot at Flora Farm.

Despite several enquiries, we have not yet been given any indication about whether the facility has been moved elsewhere or is permanently closed down.

Members of the public have, however, said they’ve been turned away at the gate when attempting to drop their recycling off at Flora Farm.

The nursery closed at the end of December.

* There is a recycling depot at the gates of the Boksburg SPCA, in Railway Street, for glass and paper recycling.

This organisation does receive a small amount of money for the recycling when it is collected but SPCA manager Maggie Mudd said the mess the public make when dropping stuff off is very disheartening.

“We’d like to thank the public for making use of the facility and being responsible about recycling, but we urge residents to please only use the containers supplied and not just drop their recycling next to the containers.

“While we do request collection as soon as the containers are full, this can take a few days.

“So, if you get to the depot and the containers are full, please don’t dump your recycling next to the containers – paper recycling items especially attract a large number of flies and the mess at our gate has to be cleaned up,” Mudd said.
