Watch: Atlasville hosts Rian and team from Jacaranda FM for a street braai

The braai provided an opportunity for everyone to meet and greet the Scenic Drive team, and some were even interviewed by Rian live on air.

Permanent Road in Atlasville was the place to be on Friday (February 23) if you wanted to mingle and enjoy some good company while listening to The Scenic Drive with Rian and the team from Jacaranda FM.

They were broadcasting live from the station’s very first “street braai”.

The outside broadcast had the street abuzz, with hundreds of residents, their friends and family flocking to the social event.

Permanent Road was closed off from 4pm to 9pm.

Resident Lizelle Blignaut said the event came about after she sent an SMS to Jacaranda FM when they asked listeners to let them know who would like to host a street braai.

“I then let my neighbours know and they invited their friends,” Lizelle said. “The whole idea behind the street braai is to get to know your neighbour and build a real sense of community.

“I’d like to thank our sponsors, La Como Fitness Club, Party-In, Sterling Ice, Pick n Pay Bonaero Park, Deli Spices and Nizza Foods, who all helped to make the street braai possible.”

Excited Atlasville residents who came out to meet and greet and braai with the Scenic Drive team.

Scenic Drive host Rian van Heerden said they were warmly welcomed by the residents of Permanent Road.

“We met very interesting people and had a great braai with tasty sauces and drinks,” he said.
