Expect delays as Boeing 737 takes to the road on Tuesday

Motorists are advised of potential delays between 5am and 5pm.

Traffic delays could occur on Tuesday when a Boeing 737 will be transported from Boksburg to Fourways Mall.

The plane will be transported from Jet Park from early in the morning. The plane is predicted to reach its destination before 5pm.

Affected areas include Jet Park‚ Isando‚ Choorkop, Midrand, Dainfern and Fourways. The 60km trek will therefore have a huge impact on morning commuters.

 

The plane is being transported for the launch of KidZania in South Africa. KidZania is a Mexican chain of indoor entertainment that comprises mini-cities built inside malls. It will be located within Fourways Mall.

What route is the plane taking into Johannesburg?

  • Leaves from Jet Park, next to OR Tambo airport
  • From Yaldwyn Road, it gets on to Isando Road.
  • Then it turns onto Green Avenue, before briefly jumping on to the M86.
  • The plane will then use the M90 to get on to the longest stretch of its journey, the M39. The abnormal load will be on the M39 for 44km in total.
  • It will exit the motorway on Pretoria Main Road, before turning onto Olifantsfontein Road and Summit Road, to Mnandi Road in Knoppieslaagte 385-Jr, Centurion.
  • Then the Boeing 737 will proceed down the R511, finally reaching its destination at Fourways Mall.
