Injured bird’s ordeal could be over soon

There are hopes this bird will be captured this weekend

The Boksburg SPCA has high hopes that the bul-bul, which has a blow dart through its head, will be captured this weekend.

The Advertiser recently reported on the horrific story after being alerted to it by Beyers Park resident Brian Stratton, who said the bird is a regular visitor to his garden.

He photographed the bird after noticing the dart through its head.

“Brian and his wife are still getting the bird used to being fed close to a box,” said Maggie Mudd, manager of Boksburg SPCA, who will attempt to capture the bird in a trap box so that the dart can be removed and the bird treated for its injuries.

She recently advised Stratton to place a box, similar to the size of a trap box, close to the feeding area so that the bird becomes familiar with a box.

Stratton is in regular contact with the SPCA.

“We are going to attempt to catch the bird this weekend, if all goes according to plan,” Mudd said.
