Play golf and eat cake in support of Lions

Through their many fund-raising initiatives, the club continues to support various community projects including feeding the needy, supporting local old age homes, projects aimed at restoring eyesight and improving eye care for the needy, and others.

The Boksburg Lions Club will hold its annual charity golf day on May 9, to raise funds for St Francis Care Centre.

The organisation is appealing to individual and corporate sponsors to support the worthy cause by either entering a team of golfers or sponsoring the event, which will be held at the ERPM Golf Club.

Those who want to find out more about the charity event, or want to lend a helping hand, may call James van Heerden on 082 291 7564.

Cakes

With the support of the local community, the club members have, through their Christmas Lion’s Cake initiative held during the festive season, been able to raise thousands of rands.

That money will be used to help local people and various charities.

Lion van Heerden says the club is so grateful to Ekurhuleni residents for all their support during the sale of the cakes.

Although most of the cakes were sold during the festive season, there is still about five dozen available.

The cakes cost R100 each and residents are encouraged to continue supporting the initiative.

* The Boksburg Lions Club consists of a group of people dedicated to helping the residents of Boksburg and those in the areas surrounding the town.

Members meet once a month to consider various requests for help and then decide how to raise the required funds.
