Taxi driver critical, 15 injured in Jet Park crash

The truck and wrecked taxi was left in the middle of the intersection

Fifteen people were left injured this morning (February 6) when a taxi crashed into the side of a large truck at the Jet Park and Yaldwyn roads intersection in Jet Park.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene of the crash. “Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the driver was trapped inside his taxi and in a critical condition.

“Several other patients were found either walking around on the scene or sitting on the side of the road,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

“Provincial fire services had to use specialised rescue tools to free the trapped driver while paramedics assessed the patients. A total of 15 were found on the scene, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

“Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured driver with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
