Save these useful emergency numbers

It is also advised to teach children these numbers.

The Boksburg North SAPS has provided useful emergency numbers people can contact in case of an emergency.

• SAPS emergency: 10111.

• Glynnwood Life response vehicle: 078 137 4304.

• SAPS Crime Stop: 08600 10111.

• Crime Stop SMS line: 32211.

• Stop Women Abuse hotline: 0800 150 150

• Child Line: 0800 05 55 55,

• Complaints against the police: (012) 339 1000.

• National anti-corruption hotline: 0800 701 701.

Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Juanita Coetzer said people should write these numbers down and place them in their homes, or store them on their cellphones.

“Callers can remain anonymous on all the crime line numbers when reporting a crime. Please be the eyes and ears of our police service.

“Children must also be advised that they must stay close to adults, or walk in groups together. When walking home they must not take short routes close to open spaces, or through the veld, where they can be robbed.

“Children walking alone opens up an opportunity for criminals, especially when they walk the same route every day”, Coetzer said.

She advised parents to take responsibility in making their children aware of the dangers that they might encounter.
