VIDEO: Dachshund Dexter gunned down in Boksburg backyard

CCTV footage captured a puppy’s last moments alive as it ran frantically onto the lawn, spun around, collapsed and died after being shot in the neck with a pellet gun.

The Parkrand family whose pet it was is considering civil action after a failed effort to have their neighbour prosecuted for allegedly killing the eight-month-old dachshund, Dexter, in September last year.

 

Yolanda Fourie with Dexter. She says the incident has left the family traumatised and they feel justice hasn’t been served.

 

The charges were dropped on January 8 due to lack of evidence.

 

 

Dexter and the family’s bulldog were secured in the back garden, with access to the carport for their bedding, water, food and shade. CCTV images indicate Dexter was shot while under the carport.

The family found their beloved pet, about five hours after the shooting, on the back lawn.
